Seoul: Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok stated on Thursday that the government is prepared to take active measures to combat excessive volatility in the foreign exchange (FX) market. This announcement comes in response to recent fluctuations in the local currency, which has been hovering around the crucial 1,400 won mark against the U.S. dollar following Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election last week. According to Yonhap News Agency, during a meeting with other economic policymakers in Seoul, Choi emphasized the government's readiness to act decisively. He assured that if the financial and FX markets experience excessive volatility, the government will swiftly and effectively implement necessary market stabilization measures.
