Daegu:Two years after experiencing a disappointing loss to the Kia Tigers in the Korean Series, Samsung Lions reliever Lee Seung-min is eager for redemption in the upcoming Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason. Lee, who made his postseason debut during that series, is set to face the Tigers again as the two teams clash in the best-of-five second round starting Sunday at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee expressed his determination to avenge the previous defeat, recalling the frustration of watching the Kia players celebrate their victory. He emphasized the importance of winning the title this year to reverse the roles and give the Lions a chance to celebrate on the field.
Lee has emerged as a key player in the Lions' bullpen, achieving a career-low 2.65 ERA this season, with personal bests in appearances, innings pitched, and holds. He also performed strongly against the Tigers, maintaining a 1.17 ERA in eight outings. With the Lions' All-Star closer Kim Jae-yoon sidelined due to injury, Lee is expected to step in as the closer, especially in critical late-inning situations.
Despite the absence of Kim Jae-yoon, Lee remains confident in the team's bullpen strength. He highlighted the capability of the Lions' relievers to fill the gap and maintain a positive atmosphere in the clubhouse, emphasizing their readiness to face the Tigers' formidable lineup, which includes home run leader Kim Do-yeong.
Lee stated his commitment to pitching effectively against the Tigers' top hitters without backing down, focusing on executing his pitches to the best of his ability.
