Pyeongtaek: Lt. Gen. Scott A. Winter of Australia has taken office as the new deputy commander of the United Nations Command (UNC), led by the United States. Winter was inaugurated on Friday, succeeding Lt. Gen. Derek Macaulay, during a ceremony held at Camp Humphreys, located approximately 60 kilometers south of Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Winter is only the second Australian general officer to assume this position since the establishment of the UNC 75 years ago. The ceremony marking this transition was attended by Gen. Xavier Brunson, who serves as both the commander of U.S. Forces Korea and the UNC, as well as other dignitaries from member states.
