Hanoi: Lotte Mart, one of South Korea's leading supermarket chains, has opened its 16th store in Vietnam as it accelerates its expansion in Southeast Asia, its operator said Sunday. The new store in Tay Ninh, which opened Thursday, marks Lotte Shopping Co.'s first opening in Vietnam in about three years, following the launch of Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, a mixed-use complex featuring a shopping mall, supermarket, hotel, aquarium, and cinema, in September 2023.
According to Yonhap News Agency, about 90 percent of the new outlet is dedicated to grocery products, while it also offers Korean food items, including "gimbap" and "tteokbokki," as well as K-beauty products, the company said. Lotte Mart now operates 64 stores across Southeast Asia, including 48 in Indonesia.
The company plans to open its 17th store in Vietnam later this year, with a greater focus on grocery products.
