U.S. Embassy Promotes Korea-U.S. Alliance on South Korea’s High-Speed Rail Network

Seoul: The U.S. Embassy in South Korea has initiated an advertising campaign to promote the South Korea-U.S. alliance on the nation's high-speed rail network. This initiative is part of a broader campaign commemorating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, according to officials.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the advertisement is a 30-second video that will be displayed for one month on KTX trains. It features the tagline "Two Souls, One Story" and emphasizes the historical and strategic partnership between South Korea and the United States, in conjunction with the celebration of the U.S. independence milestone.

The video employs parallel imagery to illustrate the shared history and mutual strengths of the two nations. Notable scenes include the juxtaposition of the Statue of Liberty in New York with a statue of King Sejong from the Joseon Dynasty in South Korea, and a U.S. space launch contrasted with a South Korean ship navigating the seas. The video concludes with a call to action: "Let's open the next 250 years together."

The campaign is seen as an effort by the U.S. Embassy and newly appointed Ambassador Michelle Steel to enhance public diplomacy and foster engagement with the Korean populace. Ambassador Steel has been actively reaching out to the community by visiting key cultural sites such as Gwanghwamun Plaza and Namdaemun Market in Seoul since her arrival in July.

In an editorial shared with Yonhap News Agency in July, Ambassador Steel characterized the U.S.-ROK alliance as crucial for peace, security, and prosperity in Northeast Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific region. She highlighted the economic ties, defense cooperation, and enduring friendship between the two nations as pillars of a partnership that serves both countries and contributes to regional stability.
