South Korea Clinches Gold in Men’s Team Recurve Archery at Asian Games

Okazaki:South Korea secured its second consecutive Asian Games gold medal in men's team recurve archery. The team, comprising Lee Woo-seok, Kim Je-deok, and Kim Woo-jin, triumphed over India with a set score of 5-1 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asiad, held at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this victory marked South Korea's third archery medal of the day, following a silver in the women's team event and a bronze in the mixed team category. South Korea initially aimed to win all five recurve titles but faced setbacks when the women's team lost to India 5-3 in the first archery final on Friday.

The men's team previously defeated Chinese Taipei 6-0 in the semifinals, setting the stage for their final victory over India. In the match against India, the teams initially tied in the first set, with each scoring 56. South Korea gained momentum in the second set, scoring 57 against India's 50, and led 3-1. The final set saw South Korea outshooting India 56-54, securing the match with a 5-1 win.

In these recurve team matches, each archer takes two arrows per set, with a maximum of 60 points per set. Teams earn points by reaching a score of five first, with two points awarded for a set win and one for a tie.
