Hanwha Eagles Re-Sign Taiwanese Pitcher Wang Yan-Cheng

Tunis:The Hanwha Eagles have announced the re-signing of their Taiwanese pitcher Wang Yan-Cheng for the upcoming season. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) club revealed that Wang has agreed to a new one-year contract valued at US$200,000, along with a $100,000 signing bonus.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Wang was a key player this year, serving as the Eagles' Asian quota player. Despite the team's challenges with injuries and performance issues, the 25-year-old pitcher managed an 11-6 record with a 3.97 ERA over 133 2/3 innings and struck out 100 batters. He was the only Hanwha pitcher to achieve more than 10 wins, finishing second in innings and strikeouts on the team, only behind former major league pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new contract, Wang stated, "I am happy to be back with the Hanwha Eagles for next season. I would like to thank the club for trusting in my potential and giving me another opportunity. I will try to address my shortcomings and keep getting better and better."

The Eagles had a challenging season, finishing ninth in the 10-team league after reaching the Korean Series the previous year. They struggled in major pitching categories, including ERA and strikeouts.
