Seoul:The organizer of the CES technology trade show emphasized the innovation of South Korean companies in cutting-edge technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in anticipation of next year's event.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kinsey Fabrizio, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), noted the significant AI advancements made by South Korean firms during a press conference in Seoul. Fabrizio highlighted the importance of these innovations to the CES event.
The 2027 CES is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9. Fabrizio also remarked on South Korea's vibrant startup culture, mentioning that startups made up about half of the 800 South Korean companies that participated in this year's show.
Melissa Harrison, a CTA vice president, mentioned that several major South Korean companies, such as Samsung Electronics Co., LG Electronics Inc., SK hynix Inc., Hyundai Mobis Co., and Kia Corp., are expected to attend the upcoming event. Despite this, there has been a noticeable withdrawal of South Korean companies, including those linked to SK Group, from the annual Las Vegas event.
The CTA also shared results from a consumer survey conducted in July, revealing that 70 percent of South Korean respondents use AI in their work, with 47 percent using it daily. The survey further showed that respondents save an average of 8.2 hours of work per week through AI usage.
