National Museum Chief Offers Resignation Over Misattributed Calligraphy Incident

Accra:Seoul You Hong-june, director of the National Museum of Korea, has offered to resign following a controversy surrounding the display of a misattributed calligraphic work from his private collection.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the calligraphic piece was initially introduced as the work of a Korean independence activist. However, it was later discovered that the piece was actually created by a prominent pro-Japanese collaborator during Japan's 1910-45 colonial rule of Korea.

As a result of the controversy, the museum has removed the item from its ongoing special exhibition.
