Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung on Friday conferred certificates of appointment on the presidential special inspector and other officials in a formal ceremony.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the ceremony included the appointment of ten high-level officials and leaders of government bodies. Among those appointed was Choi Kil-su, who recently assumed the role of special inspector. His responsibilities include investigating irregularities involving the president's spouse, close relatives, and senior presidential officials, as stated by presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung.
Additionally, Ha Jung-woo, previously a presidential secretary for artificial intelligence (AI) policy, was appointed vice chairman of the presidential committee on national AI strategy, a committee chaired by President Lee. Ha resigned from his previous position to run for a parliamentary seat in the June by-elections, though he was not successful in his bid.
During a subsequent meeting with the appointees, President Lee emphasized to Choi the importance of proactive and timely responses to potential issues. He underscored the need for preemptive measures to prevent problems from arising, as reported by Kang.
