Hyundai Motor Group Unveils Advanced Hydrogen Technologies at World Hydrogen Expo 2026

Goyang:Seoul Hyundai Motor Group has opened its exhibition at the World Hydrogen Expo 2026 (WHE 2026), displaying innovative hydrogen technologies and solutions across various sectors including production, mobility, and applications for urban and industrial environments.

According to Hyundai Motor Company, the event, held from November 4 to 6 at KINTEX in Goyang, Korea, gathers approximately 190 companies and organizations from 12 countries. With the theme ‘Hydrogen Moves to Market Making Bankable Projects Work,’ WHE 2026 serves as a platform for companies, governments, and academic institutions to exchange technologies and explore business opportunities within the hydrogen sector.

The Group is highlighting its advancements through its hydrogen brand, HTWO, focusing on three main areas hydrogen production infrastructure, hydrogen mobility, and integrated hydrogen ecosystems for cities and industries. These exhibits aim to demonstrate how hydrogen can connect production and mobility with a broader range of end-use applications, showing its potential as a cohesive ecosystem.

Hyundai is showcasing two primary hydrogen production technologies modular polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolysis and waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) solutions. The PEM electrolysis system is scalable to hundreds of megawatts, with a demonstration facility already operational in Gwangju. Meanwhile, the W2H model converts organic waste into hydrogen, with projects underway in Korea and Indonesia.

The Group's mobility display features hydrogen-powered vehicles, including the 2027 NEXO SUV and a fuel cell electric cleaning truck, highlighting solutions for vehicle operation, fleet management, and refueling. An enhanced-durability fuel cell system for commercial vehicles is also being introduced, designed to improve reliability over long distances.

Hyundai is presenting integrated hydrogen ecosystem scenarios for various applications, including the Saemangeum AI Valley concept. This model envisions a future city using solar power and electrolysis integrated with AI and robotics, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.

Visitors to Hyundai's booth can experience hydrogen technologies through various programs, including riding development models of hydrogen buses and participating in educational sessions at the HTWO Academy. The exhibition aims to show how hydrogen solutions can be tailored to meet regional and industry-specific needs.

On the opening day, the ‘Leadership Insight’ global conference will feature discussions on investment in hydrogen projects, led by leaders from government, business, and finance, including Ivana Jemelkova, CEO of the Hydrogen Council. The event underscores Hyundai Motor Group's commitment to advancing hydrogen as a sustainable energy solution.
