Goyang:Seoul Hyundai Motor Group has opened its exhibition at the World Hydrogen Expo 2026 (WHE 2026), showcasing a range of hydrogen technologies and solutions. The event, held at KINTEX in Goyang, Korea, gathers approximately 190 companies and organizations from 12 countries, providing a platform for sharing hydrogen technologies and exploring business opportunities.
According to Kia Corporation, the Hyundai Motor Group's exhibition is organized around three key themes hydrogen production infrastructure, hydrogen mobility, and integrated hydrogen ecosystems for cities and industries. The exhibits aim to demonstrate how hydrogen can connect production and mobility with various end-use applications.
The Group is presenting two approaches to hydrogen production modular polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolysis and locally integrated waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) solutions. The PEM electrolysis system is scalable and already operating in Gwangju, with additional projects in Boryeong, Buan, and Jeju, Korea. The W2H approach focuses on converting organic waste into hydrogen, with projects underway in Paju, Korea, and Indonesia.
In terms of hydrogen mobility, the Group is displaying solutions across passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and rail. Highlights include the 2027 NEXO SUV, a fuel cell electric cleaning truck, and an enhanced-durability fuel cell system for commercial vehicles. The Automatic Charging Robot-Hydrogen (ACR-H) is being demonstrated for commercial vehicles, showcasing automated refueling capabilities.
Hyundai Motor Group is also presenting scenarios for integrated hydrogen ecosystems, connecting production and use based on local resources and demand. These scenarios include the Saemangeum AI Valley concept, which integrates solar power, AI, and robotics with hydrogen energy, and various applications in urban life, port logistics, and manufacturing.
Visitors to the Hyundai Motor Group booth can participate in vehicle experiences and educational programs, including boarding a development model of the ELEC CITY Fuel Cell bus and attending the HTWO Academy for insights into hydrogen technologies. The booth also offers guided tours and lectures to enhance understanding of the hydrogen ecosystem.
On the opening day of WHE 2026, the ‘Leadership Insight’ global conference features leaders from government, business, and finance. Ivana Jemelkova, CEO of the Hydrogen Council, will discuss global hydrogen project developments and investment outlook, followed by a panel discussion with Hyundai Motor Group and other Korean hydrogen companies. Through its exhibition, Hyundai Motor Group aims to showcase the potential of hydrogen as an integrated ecosystem for diverse applications.
