Samsung Lions’ Jurado Shines in Game 3 Victory Over KT Wiz

Daegu:Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man praised ace pitcher Ariel Jurado for his outstanding performance in Game 3 of the Korean Series, where the Lions defeated the KT Wiz 5-1. Jurado's durability and efficiency were key factors in the Lions taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven championship series.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jurado pitched seven innings, allowing just one run, despite a rough start where he surrendered two doubles and a run in the first inning. His pitch count reached 93 after six innings, yet he returned for the seventh, even after sustaining a hit on his pitching hand in the sixth inning.

Jurado's performance was crucial, as he has consistently pitched into the seventh inning in all of his postseason starts this fall. Manager Park expressed his appreciation, noting the ease Jurado's performance brings in managing the bullpen during late innings. Park also hinted at rewarding Jurado after the season for his contributions.

The Lions had previously dropped the first game 8-7 after a comeback from an 8-0 deficit but secured a win in Game 2 with a 3-2 victory in a 12-inning match. Park highlighted the team's increased confidence playing at home, with two more games scheduled in Daegu.

Rookie pitcher Jang Chan-hee is set to start Game 4. Despite his youth, Park is confident in Jang's abilities, noting his experience as a starter and his performance in Game 1. Jurado's long innings in Game 3 also preserved the bullpen, providing flexibility for the upcoming games.

KT Wiz manager Lee Kang-chul acknowledged Jurado's excellent pitching as a deciding factor in the loss. Lee noted that their hitting was not poor, but Jurado simply played an exceptional game. Lee also reflected on starter So Hyeong-jun's unusual early struggles with control, as he issued five walks in the first two innings, a deviation from his regular-season performance.

The Lions aim to capitalize on their home advantage in the next two games, hoping to extend their lead in the series.
