Young Pitchers Propel Samsung Lions to Brink of Korean Series Title

Daegu:At just 19 years old, Samsung Lions pitcher Jang Chan-hee delivered an impressive performance, bringing his team closer to their first Korean Series title in 12 years. In Game 4 of the series, Jang held the KT Wiz to a single run on two hits over four innings, leading the Lions to a 10-5 victory at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Lions now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1, with an opportunity to clinch the championship in Game 5, scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. in Daegu. Jang, becoming the second youngest pitcher to start a Korean Series game, displayed resilience after a shaky start, recovering from a solo home run on his ninth pitch to help secure a significant lead for his team.

Jang's teammates provided substantial support, pushing the Lions to a 6-1 advantage by the end of the first inning. Despite Jang's solid performance, the Lions' bullpen faced challenges in the fifth inning, allowing the Wiz to score three runs without a hit. However, Lee Jae-hee, another key player, stabilized the situation with crucial strikeouts, allowing the Lions to maintain their lead.

Lee's effective pitching, backed by his fastball-slider combination, prevented further scores from the Wiz and enabled the Lions to extend their lead, thanks to contributions from Park Seung-kyu and Koo Ja-wook. The Lions' bullpen, including Kim Tae-hoon and Lee Seung-min, successfully closed the game, with Lee Jae-hee standing out as the bullpen star, throwing a majority of strikes in his 33 pitches.
