Beijing - Alibaba.com, China's largest online marketplace, has announced plans to launch an exclusive website featuring only South Korean products in the second half of this year. This initiative reflects the growing global demand for Korean-made goods among B2B buyers.
According to Yonhap News Agency, this dedicated platform aims to support local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their sales overseas. "Korean products have always been available on our platform, but there has never been a site exclusively for Korean sellers," said Marco Yang, head of Alibaba.com Korea. The decision to select Korea for this project underscores the significant interest in Korean products, which has seen substantial growth over the past year. For instance, auto parts sales on Alibaba.com have more than tripled, while sales of ramyeon, skincare products, and red ginseng have seen substantial increases. The new website, alongside a membership trial program costing 280,000 won (approximately US$199) per year, is designed to enhance the competitiveness of Korean SMEs and broaden their international sales channels.
