Seoul – In a strategic move to support its South Korean partners, AliExpress, a division of Alibaba Group, announced on Friday that it will continue its no-commission policy for South Korean merchants using its platform until December. This decision aims to foster mutual growth amid increasing competition in the region.
According to Yonhap News Agency, AliExpress launched the K-Venue marketplace in October to provide small and medium-sized Korean businesses with an opportunity to sell products such as home appliances, food and beverages, and other daily necessities without the burden of commission fees. The policy, initially set as a temporary measure, has been extended twice previously in March and June due to its positive reception among local partners and consumers. AliExpress’s move comes as Chinese e-commerce giants, including PDD Holdings' Temu and AliExpress itself, intensify their marketing efforts in Korea, challenging established local platforms like Coupang Inc.
