Seoul: The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) has announced its plans to send a high-level business delegation to the United States, aimed at strengthening economic ties between Seoul and Washington following the recent leadership change in South Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the delegation will include 20 senior executives from major U.S. and South Korean firms. Their visit to Washington is scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday, where they will engage with key officials in the U.S. administration and legislature. Notable companies represented in the delegation include Amazon Web Services, Corning, Hyundai Motor Group, and POSCO Holdings.
The group aims to expand cooperation in strategic sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors. Additionally, they will advocate for increased U.S. support for Korean investments, reduction of trade imbalances, and improved conditions for companies operating in South Korea.
James Kim, AMCHAM chairman and CEO, emphasized the significance of the visit by stating, “With South Korea’s new administration just taking office, this is a unique window of opportunity to help shape the next phase of bilateral economic cooperation,” referring to the inauguration of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung last week.
