SUWON—Choo Shin-soo, former major league All-Star, has set a new record as the oldest position player to participate in a Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) game, appearing as a designated hitter for the SSG Landers on Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, aged 42 years and 11 days, surpassed the previous record held by Felix Jose of the Lotte Giants, who played his last KBO game at 42 years and eight days old in 2007. In the game against the KT Wiz, Choo hit a double off Wiz starter William Cuevas, marking him not only as the oldest to play but also securing a hit in KBO history. However, Choo has announced his intention to retire at the end of this season, making it unlikely for him to challenge Song Jin-woo's overall age record of 43 years, seven months, and seven days for a player in the league.
