SEOUL — A civic group has officially filed a complaint against Chung Mong-gyu, the president of the Korea Football Association (KFA), challenging the recent appointment of Hong Myung-bo as the new coach of the men's national football team.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the complaint lodged with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency accuses Chung of obstruction of business, breach of trust, and blackmail. The group argues that the appointment of Hong amid significant opposition, and the lack of transparency in determining his salary, constitute business obstruction and breach of trust. Furthermore, the KFA's threat of legal action against Park Joo-ho, who criticized the appointment process, has been equated to blackmail by the civic group, impacting not only Park but also the public's trust in the KFA's governance.
