Genesis BBQ Supports Korean War Veterans in the U.S. with $10,000 Donation

SEOUL - Genesis BBQ, a South Korean chicken franchise, has made a significant donation of $10,000 to the Honor Flight Network, a U.S. organization dedicated to supporting veterans, including those who served in the Korean War.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The donation was announced in conjunction with Veterans Day on November 11, during which Genesis BBQ offered a 25 percent discount to active and retired military personnel at its 250 outlets across 26 states in the United States. The company stated that the donation amount includes the equivalent of these discounts.

Honor Flight Network is known for providing U.S. military veterans with free transportation to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C. The Korean War, which took place from 1950-53, saw the deployment of nearly 2 million troops from 22 countries, including significant U.S. involvement. The war resulted in over 40,000 fatalities and nearly 4,000 soldiers missing.

Genesis BBQ's donation follows its recent recognition by the New York Police Department (NYPD) for contributing to the development of Korea Town on 32nd Street in New York and enhancing public safety in the state. The company has been offering discounts to police officers and firefighters since December 2019 in response to rising crimes at its U.S. locations. This initiative has reportedly led to increased police presence at BBQ outlets, particularly in New York, contributing to a reduction in store-related crimes.
