SEOUL – Hanwha Ocean Co., a leading South Korean shipbuilder, announced on Monday that it has secured orders worth 2.15 trillion won ($1.55 billion) for the construction of eight vessels.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the orders include four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and four very large crude carriers (VLCCs), commissioned by two different Middle Eastern shippers. This year, Hanwha Ocean has accumulated a total of $5.3 billion in orders, marking a significant increase from the $3.5 billion recorded in 2023. The company, previously known as Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., was rebranded under the Hanwha Group in May of the previous year.
