‘Iron Mask’ Claims Best Picture at London East Asia Film Festival 2023

SEOUL — "Iron Mask," a sports film directed by Kim Sung-hwan, has won the Best Picture award at the London East Asia Film Festival 2023.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The film triumphed over other contenders including "Hopeless" by Kim Chang-hoon and "Day Off" by Fu Tien-yu. The story revolves around Jae-woo, played by Joo Jong-hyuk, a kendo player preparing for a crucial match against Tae-su, portrayed by Moon Jin-seung, who is responsible for his brother's death. The match will determine the final spot on the national kendo team.

"Iron Mask" is not new to accolades; it previously bagged two awards at the 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in July. These were the Best Korean Fantastic Film award and Watcha's Pick for Korean Fantastic award. The film is scheduled for release in local theaters on November 15.
