Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced varied performance in its latest trading session, with notable fluctuations in the closing prices of several major companies. POSCO Holdings led the list with a significant decline, closing at 258,000, down by 13,000. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics recorded a modest increase, ending the day at 53,500, up by 100.
According to Yonhap News Agency, several other companies in the index also experienced notable changes. DB Insurance saw a slight decrease, closing at 93,300, down by 500, while SLCORP dropped by 100 to finish at 31,900. Yuhan, however, bucked the trend with an increase of 700, closing at 131,900.
Industries related to electronics and chemicals showed mixed results. Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. fell by 9,500, ending at 234,000, whereas KPIC rose by 3,200 to 93,500. HD Hyundai MIPO saw a substantial rise, closing at 141,800, up by 12,500. Similarly, Hanwha Aerospace marked a significant gain, closing at 389,500, an increase of 12,000.
In the retail and construction sectors, GS E and C decreased by 50 to 16,960, while GS Retail increased by 70 to reach 16,000. Hyundai Elevator recorded an upward movement, closing at 51,000, up by 1,200.
The energy sector showed mixed signals, as S-Oil dropped by 1,200 to 61,300, whereas KEPCO gained 450, ending at 21,200. Kumho Petrochemical experienced a notable rise, closing at 109,700, up by 9,700.
Other significant movements included LS Electric, which decreased by 3,000 to 207,000, and Samsung Heavy Industries, which rose by 180 to 13,670. Hyundai WIA saw a small decline, closing at 40,250, down by 50.
