Ulaanbaatar: President Lee Jae Myung stated that South Korea's unique pioneering spirit resembles Mongolia's nomadic spirit, emphasizing that this resemblance fosters bilateral friendship and understanding. The South Korean president made these remarks during a lunch meeting with South Koreans in Mongolia, held at a hotel in Ulaanbaatar, where he advocated for expanded cooperation with Mongolia.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee is on a three-day state visit to Mongolia, which included a summit with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh the day before. During his address, Lee noted, "The reason South Korea and Mongolia could become close friends is because of their similar dispositions." He elaborated that Mongolia's nomadic spirit of exploring new paths across the vast steppe and South Korea's pioneering spirit are significant factors that help the countries understand each other.
President Lee also praised the vibrant Korean community in Ulaanbaatar, which he attributed to the strong presence of South Korea in Mongolia. He highlighted the bustling Korean town in the Mongolian capital, known as "Mongtan," which features numerous Korean restaurants, cafes, and businesses. Lee described this community as a bridge between the two nations, fostering a new era of strategic partnerships and cooperation in different sectors.
In his concluding remarks, Lee echoed the sentiments of the Mongolian president, who identified South Korea as a pivotal partner among Mongolia's "third neighbors." He expressed optimism that the bilateral cooperation between the two nations will continue to grow and deepen.
