SEOUL — Min Hee-jin, CEO of ADOR, the label managing popular girl group NewJeans, was questioned by police on Tuesday over allegations of breach of trust. The inquiry stems from accusations by Hybe, the parent company and a leading force in the K-pop industry, which claims Min attempted to unlawfully take control of ADOR and its assets, including NewJeans.
According to Yonhap News Agency, which owns an 80 percent stake in ADOR and also manages the world-renowned BTS, filed the complaint in April, alleging that Min and other executives at ADOR conspired to render the company a "shell" to facilitate their takeover. Min, who has consistently denied the allegations, expressed her disbelief in the charges as she appeared for questioning, stating to reporters that the notion of breach of trust "does not make any sense." In May, a Seoul court sided with Min by granting an injunction that prevented Hybe from removing her as CEO, allowing her to retain her position during a subsequent shareholders' meeting.
