Lee, notably recognized for his role in "Parasite," was found deceased in his car in Seoul on December 27, following multiple questioning sessions by police on drug use allegations.
According to Yonhap News Agency,Concerns have been raised about the police's decision to expose Lee to the media during these sessions and the subsequent invasive media coverage. The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police's anti-corruption and financial crime unit is specifically investigating how information about the case was leaked. Despite Lee's insistence on his innocence and negative drug tests, his death has prompted calls for a thorough examination of the police's actions. Filmmakers and actors, including "Parasite" director Bong Joon-ho, have issued a statement demanding a comprehensive investigation to understand the circumstances leading to Lee's death.
