Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced an expansion of its SmartThings connectivity platform to incorporate products from Swedish furniture company IKEA.
According to Yonhap News Agency, IKEA's 25 new products, such as the Scroll Wheel remote, smart lights, smart plugs, and air quality sensors, are now compatible with the Matter smart home standard. Matter is an open-source standard that allows devices from different manufacturers, like Apple, Google, and Samsung, to interoperate smoothly.
Users can seamlessly connect IKEA products to the SmartThings platform, integrating them with Samsung home appliances without any additional setup. Samsung has collaborated with IKEA to improve connection stability on the SmartThings platform.
A Samsung Electronics official stated the company's intention to expand its ecosystem by collaborating with various partners to provide a more convenient smart home experience through SmartThings.
