Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. is preparing to showcase an array of new products, including foldable smartphones and smart glasses, at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London this week. The event, slated for Wednesday, is themed "A New Shape Unfolds," and industry insiders anticipate the introduction of a premium version of the book-style foldable smartphone, provisionally named the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung has traditionally introduced the standard Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models at its Unpacked events. This year marks a departure from that pattern with the expected debut of the Ultra version of the Fold lineup. Industry sources suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a 4:3 ratio when unfolded, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is likely to present a 3:2 ratio.
Samsung Electronics is also poised to unveil its strategy for an artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, alongside the introduction of a new smart glass. In May, Google LLC indicated a collaboration with Samsung on developing Android-based smart glasses, raising anticipation for more information on specifications, pricing, and the release timeline during the Unpacked event.
The anticipated smart glasses are expected to incorporate features such as AI-powered voice interaction, real-time translation, navigation assistance, and camera-based visual search capabilities.
