Samsung’s Brand Value Reaches US$97.4 Billion, Ranks Eighth Globally

Seoul: The brand value of Samsung Group reached US$97.4 billion this year, a British consulting firm said Sunday, ranking eighth among major global technology companies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the value of Samsung Group marked an 8.9 percent increase from the previous year's estimate of $89.4 billion, as reported by Brand Finance, a global brand valuation consultancy. Despite slipping one spot in its ranking from last year, Samsung maintained its position as the only South Korean brand in the top 10.

In addition to Samsung, SK hynix Inc. showed progress, ranking 28th, up one spot from the previous year. Conversely, LG Group experienced a decline, falling eight places to 44th. Coupang Inc., a U.S.-listed e-commerce giant primarily operating in South Korea, ranked 49th, down one spot from a year earlier. Meanwhile, South Korea's leading search engine operator, Naver Corp., improved its ranking, moving up five spots to 95th.

Globally, the United States led with 46 of the top 100 brands, followed by China and Japan with 25 and nine, respectively. Apple Inc. secured the top spot with a brand value of $607.6 billion, followed by Microsoft Corp., Google LLC, and Amazon.com Inc.
