SEOUL - In a poignant tribute to those who have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, approximately 2,000 pairs of shoes were arranged in central Seoul on Friday. The display, situated in front of the Bosingak Pavilion, was organized by civic activists as a call for peace and a ceasefire in the region.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the shoes represent the individuals killed in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Israel over more than 75 years of conflict. Emphasizing that these lives are more than mere numbers, the activists received over 3,000 pairs of shoes from across South Korea, each bearing messages of hope for peace. A mourning event is planned for 7 p.m., with the display continuing until 8 p.m.
