SEOUL— Cho Ji-ho, the nominee for the chief of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), expressed a profound sense of duty regarding his potential appointment, during remarks made on Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, statements made before his appearance at a meeting of the Korean National Police Commission, Cho, currently the Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, acknowledged the heightened public expectations facing the police force. The nomination process for Cho involves approval by President Yoon Suk Yeol following a recommendation from the interior minister and a parliamentary confirmation hearing. Cho, born in 1968 and a graduate of the Korean National Police University, has served in significant capacities within the police hierarchy, including roles in President Yoon Suk Yeol's transition team and as deputy commissioner general of the KNPA before leading the Seoul police.
