South Korea’s Defense and Science Ministries Collaborate to Modernize Military
SEOUL— In a pivotal move to enhance military capabilities, South Korea's defense and science ministries convened their first policy consultation meeting on Wednesday, aimed at integrating advanced technologies into military operations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting, held at the defense ministry, brought together Defense Minister Shin Won-sik and Science Minister Lee Jong-ho. The ministers set forth 10 joint objectives to promote the development of defense and science technologies. These initiatives include advancements in artificial intelligence and the integration of manned and unmanned systems, reflecting a strategic shift towards a more technologically advanced military framework. Furthermore, the discussion explored the potential shared use of sixth-generation (6G) frequency bands across civilian and military sectors, anticipating increased demand with the progression of robotic and drone technologies.
