Seoul – The presidential office announced on Friday the formation of a new task force dedicated to implementing President Yoon Suk Yeol's recently articulated unification doctrine, which was detailed in his Liberation Day speech.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the task force, led by Principal Deputy National Security Adviser Kim Tae-hyo, will focus on executing the initiatives laid out in President Yoon’s doctrine. These initiatives include raising global awareness of North Korea's human rights issues, establishing a North Korea Freedom and Human Rights Fund to support nongovernmental efforts that promote human rights and freedom within North Korea, and developing advanced educational programs for South Korea’s youth about the prospects of unification.
The task force aims to operationalize the fund before year-end and is part of a broader strategy to update and expand upon the unification vision first presented by the Kim Young-sam administration in 1994. President Yoon's approach emphasizes enhancing North Koreans' access to external information and proposes the creation of an official dialogue channel between the two Koreas to facilitate open discussions on various issues.
