South Korean Defense Ministry Partners with State Housing Developer for Military Housing Support

SEOUL — The defense ministry signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Land and Housing Corp. on Thursday, aiming to enhance housing support for military officers and noncommissioned officers, particularly in remote areas. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the working and living conditions of military personnel by transitioning to single-person housing units by 2026.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The agreement will facilitate the rental of newly constructed single-person units for Marines in Pohang and soldiers on Baengnyeong Island and in the city of Paju. According to the defense ministry, the collaboration with the state housing developer is a significant step towards providing better living arrangements for military personnel stationed in less accessible locations. Further discussions are planned to extend this housing support initiative.
