TEHRAN — South Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister Chung Byung-won attended the inauguration of Iran's new President, Masoud Pezeshkian, representing Seoul at the ceremony held in Tehran on Tuesday, the South Korean foreign ministry announced.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during a separate meeting with President Pezeshkian, Chung expressed his hopes for the continued growth of the six-decade-long friendly relations between South Korea and Iran. Pezeshkian, 69, known for his moderate reformist stance, which contrasts with his predecessor's conservative approach, reciprocated the sentiment, emphasizing his desire for strengthened cooperation with South Korea. His inauguration marks the beginning of potential new phases in Iran-South Korea bilateral relations, underlining both nations' intent to deepen ties.
