South Korean Foreign Minister Discusses Cooperation with Chinese Official in Seoul

SEOUL — South Korea's Foreign Minister, Cho Tae-yul, engaged in discussions on Wednesday with Hao Peng, the Communist Party secretary of Liaoning province, focusing on supply chain cooperation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during a luncheon in Seoul, Cho urged collaborative efforts to manage the supply chain of raw materials and more.

Cho highlighted Hao's effective leadership in addressing operational challenges faced by Korean businesses in Liaoning and expressed hope for continued support in fostering a stable and predictable investment climate. Over 500 Korean companies are currently active in Liaoning, a significant northeastern province adjacent to North Korea. The discussions also touched on the need for Seoul and Beijing to collaboratively mitigate challenges arising from shifts in the geopolitical landscape, emphasizing that South Korea does not intend to exclude China from global supply chains. Cho requested China's support to ensure the stability of critical material supply chains.

The visit by Hao Peng to Seoul is the first by a Chinese provincial secretary since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
