According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Woo-jin secured his place in Olympic history by matching the record for the most gold medals won by a South Korean Olympian, with his recent victories in the men’s team and mixed team events. On Sunday, Kim will compete in the round of 16 against Brazil's Marcus D'Almeida, hoping to advance to the semifinals and ultimately win his third gold of the current games. No male archer from South Korea has previously won three gold medals at the same Olympics. His teammates, Lee Woo-seok and Kim Je-deok, are also contenders, potentially setting up a historic all-Korean semifinal.
In boxing, Im Ae-ji will contend in the women's 54-kilogram semifinals against Hatice Akbas from Turkiye.
