South Korean Police Collaborate with FBI on Cyberattack Investigation

Tunis:South Korean police are collaborating with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to trace the hackers responsible for recent cyberattacks targeting the country's financial institutions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the cooperation involves the Korean National Police Agency working closely with the FBI to obtain crucial investigative data. This includes access logs and account details from major U.S.-based global cybersecurity and artificial intelligence companies.

A report from U.S. cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike suggested that a 26-year-old man from China's Guangdong Province might be involved in the attacks. However, the individual has denied any involvement. Authorities in South Korea are considering other possible suspects and are analyzing data from CrowdStrike to identify the hackers. This data includes documents that may link the attacks to a Chinese distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack group.

When queried about the collaboration with the FBI, a South Korean police official declined to confirm any specific details or progress on the investigation.
