Seoul: The KOSPI 200 stock index witnessed a varied performance as several prominent companies experienced declines in their closing prices. Notable among these were Korea Zinc and Samsung Biologics, both of which saw significant drops. Korea Zinc closed at 1,600,000, down by 28,000, while Samsung Biologics finished at 1,568,000, a decrease of 24,000.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LS Electric also faced a downturn, closing at 733,000, a decline of 14,000. Samsung Heavy Industries and S-Oil were not spared, with their closing prices standing at 28,750 and 105,400, down by 1,950 and 2,600, respectively. In the gaming sector, DoubleUGames ended at 49,650, marking a decrease of 850.
In contrast, some companies demonstrated resilience. Hanjin KAL's stock rose by 600 to reach 116,200, while Chong Kun Dang saw a rise of 1,600, closing at 86,700. TKG Huchems and GS Retail also experienced gains, closing at 19,090 and 19,020, up by 270 and 60, respectively.
The electronics sector saw mixed results with Samsung Electro-Mechanics increasing by 12,500 to 413,000 and LG Innotek rising by 4,000 to reach 254,000. Meanwhile, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. recorded a fall of 5,000, closing at 383,000.
The aerospace industry had a positive note with Korea Aerospace advancing by 8,500 to 191,200. However, Hanwha Aerospace faced a downturn, closing at 1,476,000, a decrease of 12,000.
Overall, the KOSPI 200's performance highlighted fluctuations across various sectors, with several companies experiencing both gains and losses, reflecting the dynamic nature of the stock market.
