Seoul:Personal information of approximately 10,000 students and graduates from Yonsei University has been compromised due to a hacking incident targeting the university's portal service, the university announced on Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Yonsei University's information and communications office confirmed that an external party gained unauthorized access to the university's portal, leading to the exposure of personal data belonging to some members of the university community. The office expressed apologies for the concern and inconvenience the breach has caused.
The compromised data includes student ID numbers, mobile phone numbers, email addresses of current students and graduates, and certain system management information. However, the university assured that sensitive personal information, such as resident registration numbers, was not compromised in the breach.
