PARIS - Jin, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, is slated to be the inaugural torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics torch relay segment near the iconic Louvre Museum this Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Local news outlets specializing in Olympic coverage have confirmed that the South Korean singer will start his leg of the torch relay at the Louvre Pyramid around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The French domestic torch relay kicked off on May 8 in Marseille and has been progressing through various regions for over two months. The torch's journey coincides with Bastille Day, a major French national holiday, which celebrates the historical storming of the Bastille prison during the French Revolution.
Jin's participation in the relay, which comes shortly after his return from mandatory military service, underscores his and BTS' significant international influence and their consistent message of self-love. After completing his portion of the relay, Jin is expected to return to vigorous solo activities later this year. The torch will continue its tour through Paris before moving back to other parts of France, returning to Paris for the official opening ceremony on July 26.
