SEOUL: President Yoon Suk Yeol's foreign policy adviser, Chang Ho-jin, visited Australia on Monday to advocate for the inclusion of South Korean firms in the country's upcoming frigate project, according to Yoon's office. According to Yonhap News Agency, Australia announced in February its intention to acquire 11 new frigates for its Navy, with South Korean, Japanese, German, and Spanish vessels under consideration. The visit by Chang Ho-jin is part of South Korea's efforts to secure a role in this procurement process. On the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Laos earlier this month, President Yoon engaged in discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. During the meeting, Yoon emphasized the interest of South Korean companies in the frigate project and sought Australia's support for their involvement.
