Actor Lee Sun-kyun Undergoes Third Police Questioning Over Drug Allegations

Incheon - Actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Parasite," appeared for the third time before the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on Saturday for questioning over alleged drug use. The questioning session took place in Incheon, located approximately 30 kilometers west of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee arrived at the agency's office accompanied by his lawyer. Addressing reporters upon his arrival, the 48-year-old actor, dressed in a black suit, expressed his apologies for the trouble caused to many people. When asked about the drug charges against him, he stated that he would respond honestly during the questioning.

Lee is under suspicion of using marijuana and other illegal substances at the residence of a hostess employed at a high-end bar in Seoul's Gangnam district, with allegations dating back to early this year. He has already undergone two previous rounds of questioning on the same case, on October 28 and November 4.

The police indicated that this round of questioning might be the final one, as they currently have no plans to summon him again. However, they noted that the session could extend over 10 hours and into the night due to the need to address both the drug case and a related blackmail case.

In October, following reports about his alleged drug use, Lee filed a complaint against the hostess for consistent blackmail. A police official, speaking anonymously, mentioned that with Lee's consent, the questioning could continue after dark and might conclude late at night.

During the last questioning, Lee claimed he was deceived by the hostess into taking the drugs and was unaware of their nature. He has tested negative for drug use in both a brief reagent test conducted during the police investigations and a more elaborate test by the National Forensic Service last month.
