Chinese Art Troupe Celebrates Diplomatic Anniversary in North Korea

PYONGYANG — In a significant cultural exchange, a Chinese art troupe has visited North Korea to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the troupe, comprising approximately 300 artists, arrived in Pyongyang in two groups on Saturday and Tuesday to perform at the opening ceremony of the "DPRK-China Friendship Year."

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) highlighted the event as a key celebration of the longstanding ties between Pyongyang and Beijing, with this year designated as a milestone in their diplomatic and cultural relations. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), North Korea's official name, has historically shared a close relationship with China, its primary ally and economic supporter.

Further cementing these ties, a high-level Chinese delegation led by Zhao Leji, identified as the third-ranking official in China, is scheduled to visit Pyongyang. This official visit, lasting from Thursday to Saturday, coincides with the performance's opening ceremony and underscores the intensified diplomatic and cultural exchanges between the two nations amidst North Korea's expanding cooperation with Russia in military and other sectors.
