Dietrich Enns Reflects on Winning KBO Debut with LG Twins

SEOUL – Dietrich Enns, pitcher for the LG Twins, expressed gratitude and excitement following his successful debut in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) on Saturday. Enns helped lead the Twins to an 8-2 victory over the Hanwha Eagles during the season opener at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Enns credited the vibrant atmosphere created by the sellout crowd of 23,750 fans and the solid performance of his teammates for providing the energy and confidence needed during his first regular-season start in the KBO. He appreciated the fan support and acknowledged the significant contributions of his defense and offense, which produced 11 hits.

The Twins had signed Enns in December and announced him as their Opening Day starter during spring training. Despite initial nerves, Enns found his rhythm, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four over six innings. He highlighted critical moments in the game, such as overcoming a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning, which he managed to exit with minimal damage.

Enns also reflected on the opportunity to pitch against Hanwha Eagles' Ryu Hyun-jin, a former Major League Baseball player known for his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Enns described facing Ryu, particularly during his anticipated return to the KBO, as an honor and a thrilling aspect of his debut.

Ryu, in contrast, had a challenging day, giving up five runs in just 3 2/3 innings, with his defense failing to provide the necessary support. Enns highlighted the difference in team backing each pitcher received during the game.

The encounter between Enns and Ryu was one of the key narratives of the day, with the former outperforming the latter and securing a memorable victory for the LG Twins to start their title defense.
