HD Korea Shipbuilding Secures $170 Million Order for Oil Tankers from Liberia

Seoul - HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) announced on Friday that it has secured a 222.6 billion-won (US$170 million) contract to construct two oil tankers for a Liberian shipping company, slated for completion by mid-2026. The tankers will be built at the shipyard of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., a statement from HD KSOE detailed. HD Hyundai, previously known as Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, has HD KSOE as a subholding company under its umbrella.

According to Yonhap news Agency, HD KSOE operates three affiliates: Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

With this latest contract, HD KSOE's total ship orders for the year have reached $20.36 billion, surpassing its annual target of $12.94 billion. This achievement underscores the company's robust performance in the global shipbuilding market, continuing to secure substantial contracts despite market fluctuations.
