HD Korea Shipbuilding Secures Orders Worth 612 Billion Won in Oceania and Europe

SEOUL - HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) announced on Monday that it has won orders totaling 612 billion won ($454 million) to construct six vessels for clients in Oceania and Europe.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the orders include four liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ships to be built for a client in Oceania and two product carriers (PCs) for a European client. The LPG ships are scheduled to be constructed at HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., while the PCs will be built at HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding, with delivery deadlines set for May 2027 and November 2027, respectively.

This series of orders has enabled South Korea's leading shipbuilder to achieve 68 percent, or $9.19 billion, of its annual target of $13.5 billion for the year. The company noted that its order target for the year was set conservatively, considering the significant volume of ship orders already secured for the coming years. In 2023, HD KSOE far exceeded its annual target by securing $22.6 billion in ship orders. The company, which operates under HD Hyundai, formerly known as Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, includes three shipbuilding affiliates within its organizational structure.
