Hybe Unveils New Girl Band ‘KATSEYE’ Featuring Members from Four Nations

SEOUL - Hybe, known for managing the K-pop phenomenon BTS, officially announced the formation of a new girl band, 'KATSEYE,' on Saturday. This announcement marks a significant expansion in Hybe's roster, introducing a diversely composed group with members hailing from four different countries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, 'KATSEYE' was formed following the conclusion of the global audition program, "The Debut: Dream Academy." The final round of this audition, which took place in Hollywood, United States, was the platform where the six members of the new band were chosen. The audition process was highly competitive, with 20 contestants being selected from a pool of approximately 120,000 candidates worldwide. The final 10 contenders competed for their spot in the band during the last stage of the competition.

The multinational lineup of 'KATSEYE' includes Sophia from the Philippines, Yoonchae from South Korea, Manon from Switzerland, and three members from the United States: Lara, Megan, and Daniela. This diverse composition is expected to add a unique dynamic to the group's music and overall appeal.

In an effort to launch 'KATSEYE' on an international scale, Hybe has partnered with Geffen Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. This collaboration aims to leverage the extensive reach of Geffen Records in promoting the new girl band globally.

The members of 'KATSEYE' are currently preparing for their debut. While Hybe has not disclosed a specific schedule, the company has indicated that further details will be released in the future. Additionally, Hybe has plans to release a Netflix documentary next year, which will chronicle the journey and development of the members of 'KATSEYE,' providing fans with an inside look into their growth and experiences.
