Hyundai Motor Group Celebrates Opening of Global Innovation Center in Singapore

SEOUL - Hyundai Motor Group marked a significant milestone with the completion ceremony of its Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS). The event, held in Singapore's advanced manufacturing hub, Jurong Innovation District, signifies the company's commitment to research and development in human-centered mobility technologies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The construction of HMGICS, which commenced in October 2020, faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing its original completion schedule from the end of last year to now. The ceremony was attended by notable figures from both South Korea and Singapore, including Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister, South Korean Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun, and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung.

HMGICS serves as a crucial hub for Hyundai's innovation efforts, encompassing research and development in technology, manufacturing, and business processes. The 44,000 square meter facility includes a range of features such as small-scale manufacturing facilities, workspaces for R&D, office spaces, and customer experience facilities.

The center has already begun operations, producing models like Hyundai's Ioniq 5 and autonomous taxis. With the capacity to produce over 30,000 electric vehicles annually, HMGICS represents a key step in Hyundai Motor Group's journey towards pioneering future mobility solutions.
