K-pop Idol G-Dragon Booked by Incheon Police on Charges of Alleged Drug Use

INCHEON - K-pop star G-Dragon, leader of the boy band BIGBANG, was booked for alleged drug use, according to a Wednesday announcement by the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency.

According to a news release by Yonhap News Agency, G-Dragon's case is separate from another ongoing investigation into suspected drug use that involves "Parasite" actor Lee Sun-kyun. Police declined to provide further details on either case.

Last week, the Incheon Metropolitan Police revealed that they had launched an investigation into eight individuals, including Lee, on suspicions of drug use. Lee was formally named as a suspect this past Monday.

G-Dragon, who is 35 years old, was previously found to have illegally smoked marijuana in 2011 but was not formally prosecuted at that time.

Police have indicated that they expect to call in G-Dragon for questioning in the coming days.
